Hahndorf, Beerenberg and Mt. Lofty

by - 11:28 PM

If you enjoyed my Barossa Valley itinerary post on this Travel Adelaide series, then I hope you'll like today's post as well. Today, we travel South and up Adelaide Hills.

Hahndorf

This little German village is a popular destination for tourism and dining. Hahndorf Inn is where we always go for their selection of sausages. Make sure to go early or reserve a table because this place gets quite packed.

Hahndorf Inn sausage platter
We always order this sausage platter (with 5 different sausages) and a large serving of chips. I'm pretty sure the menu says that the sausage platter is good for 2 people but we usually share it with a group of 4-5. There is just no way I can finish half of that platter!

Walk around the village, buy some of their homemade fudge and try out some of their desserts. Plenty to choose from! There are also a lot of cute stores to buy some souvenirs from.

Beerenberg
This place is walking distance from Hahndorf if you're up for some exercise to burn off that large meal you just ate. We however, chose to drive of course! Too full to walk. Haha.
This strawberry farm is famous for their jams. In fact, you can buy their jams in Woolworths branches. We came here for the strawberry picking. Unfortunately, the strawberry farm is only open from November to April. Booooo. I'll just have to come back!

Mt. Lofty
Beanie and top - Forever 21, Scarf - Terranova, Joggers - Factorie, Shoes - Nike, Jacket - Cotton On, Gloves - The North Face
My first time hiking in the winter! Okay, winter in Adelaide really isn't that bad (doesn't drop below 3 degrees Celsius) but still, we were up a mountain, you know.

I've been hiking/trekking a couple times in the Philippines before, like that time I went to Danasan Eco Adventure Park so I can honestly say that the hike (we chose the most popular scenic trail) was easy peasy! The trail was well paved. Not like the natural, uneven, muddy, slidy trails I've gone on before. But hey, I'm not complaining!

And for those who are really into fitness, there were a lot of joggers running up and down the trail too. But for us, a relaxed pace, enjoying the view, was just fine.
Hope you liked today's trip. Be sure to come back for my next Travel Adelaide post and wander around South Australia with me. ;)

Always,
Jeanne

  7. Seems like you really had fun by the looks in your photos :)
Wish I could also visit Adelaide one day, my Australia trip last year was so boring because I hate going out due to skin allergies and acne during that summer when I went there.
