My Winter Survival Guide

by - 10:48 PM

Let's be honest, the Australian winter is nothing compared to winter in other countries. So we summer loving folks really shouldn't complain. But still, there is a need to turn the heater on. So here's how I'm living out my winter.

1. Cozy, fuzzy slippers on around the house.
I don't know about you but my feet get really cold in the winter. And putting fuzzy slippers on is just so comfy and cozy. Warms me up already.

2. Sleep with socks on.
Did I say my feet get really cold? Even when the rest of me is warm under the quilt, my feet are still cold during winter's peak. Socks do the trick.

3. Face sheet masks.
Ok, when I first put the sheet mask on my face during the winter, the cold makes me shiver. Still, a girl's got to moisturize especially in the dry season.

4. Hot chocolate.
The warm cup warms my hands before the hot chocolate warms my heart. Hmm that sounds like an ad right there.

5. Warm, fuzzy dressing gown.
Yes, one as thick as your grandma's. Only prettier. Ok, for the purpose of this shoot, I've got this pretty pink satin-like robe from Sammydress that I would totally wear more often when it's warmer.  Otherwise, I would be all rugged up in warmer gear. Can you tell I love pink?

6. Netflix, the couch, and a blanket.
Let's face it, I really can't be bothered to go out when the wind is blowing and the rain is pouring like it has been in Adelaide the past week. Yes to cuddle weather when I've got the day off.

7. Turn the heater on 15-20 minutes before you intend to shower.
No, I don't have the heater on 24/7, I work too hard to be spending too much money on bills. So warm up the room long enough so you're not shivering before and after you shower.

8. Lastly, a long hot shower..
..can feel so good that I end up staying far too long as I have to summon the will power to turn the hot water off.
What I'm Wearing:
Pink robe - Sammydress (HERE)
Pink house slippers - Sammydress (HERE)

How do you feel about winter?

Always,
Jeanne

  25. I agree - sleeping with your socks on is the best.
Our winter isn't that bad compared - yes.
But I really love having a hot water bottle instead of a heater because my skin doesn't like getting too dry.

  28. You sound like me in winter LOL My feet & hands are always freezing. I’m such a sook when it comes to the cold. Love your tips. Pretty much everything I do to keep warm. Those face masks though, I can’t handle that type of cold unless my whole home is heated up haha I’m so glad I have gas water heating now though! How horrible is it when you think you’ve had the water heater on for long enough, only to hop into a lukewarm shower or for the hot water to run out halfway through? haha

I enjoyed reading this and I love warm fluffy slippers! I too opt for bed socks as my feet always seem to get cold also (even in Summer) boo.

It's surreal we're talking about Winter already isn't it? I don't know where the time has gone!

Totally with you on the hot chocolate also, at the moment I'm enjoying Almond Milk halved with Alpro Chocolate Soya Milk Less Sugar, so good.
