The Rock Pool at Sellicks Beach

by - 6:09 PM

Well hello blog, it's been a while! I last took you with me as I visited the rock pools at Second Valley. Today, we're visiting another beach in South Australia with a perfectly Instagrammable "rock pool" at Sellicks Beach. These rock pool views are such gems and I'm always keen to hunt for them. Want to find out exactly where to find this location? Read on and I'll take you there!

I first saw this rock pool featured in an Instagrammer's post but as you know, most Instagrammers won't tell you where to find the location. I had to hunt for it myself! And I dragged my ever loyal husband with me.

We went during the time of the day where the tide would be at its lowest in order for us to spot these rock pools. We kept walking along the beach and I almost gave up as I just couldn't spot any. It's just too easy to miss as these rock pools aren't too obvious.

And then I found it and realised that it's all a matter of perspective. What appears like pretty rock pools in these photos are actually just spots on the beach where there is a dip in the land deep enough for the water to have pooled in. Well, I guess it is quite literally where the water has pooled with the rocks, therefore, a rock pool. Not quite what I had imagined but still turned out beautiful, I must say.

It's not much, but it did fine for some pretty pictures and some quality time just soaking in the shallow water with the love of my life. And when you're with the love of your life, a shallow rock pool is more than you even need.

To find this spot, go when the tide is low and walk along the beach past the rock with the smiley face... (or actually, it's more like a creepy face to me, but it's all a matter of perspective..)

...until you get to the large staircase and these little "rock pools" should be somewhere along that area.

Remember, it's all a matter of perspective! What looks so ordinary...

...can turn out to be something beautiful.

And if this doesn't appeal to you, then just enjoy the beautiful beach. Don't you just love summer in Australia? Ah yes, I write that sentence as I'm typing this in the middle of winter. I miss you, Mr. Sun!

What do you think of this "rock pool"? What's your favourite rock pool spot in South Australia? Let me know in the comments below as I'd love to discover new "secret" spots. And of course, if you know someone who'd love to see this for themselves, don't forget to share this post with them! :)

Always,
Jeanne
