Fisher Price Deluxe Kick And Play Piano Gym Review

by - 1:07 PM

A play gym is a staple in any household with a baby and for good reason. Play gyms not only entertain your baby but also stimulate cognitive and motor development. Play gyms are fun, colourful, and educational. The one we have is the Fisher Price Deluxe Kick And Play Piano Gym. My baby loves this play gym so much and even though she plays with it on a daily basis, she has not grown tired of it yet. Read on to find out why.
Fisher Price Deluxe Kick And Play Piano Gym Review

Cost and Where To Buy
I last spotted this play gym being sold at $79 at Big W. I’m sure you’ll be able to buy this gym easily online as well.

Assembly
The play gym consists of the piano, a rainbow arch with four detachable toys, a fake mirror with a strap to attach it with, a play mat, and the base. It is incredibly easy to assemble by simply slipping the parts into the designated slots. This toy requires AA batteries which are secured at the back so will be of no risk to your infant.

Features

Colorful
This toy is incredibly attractive to your baby perhaps because it is so colourful – displaying colours of the rainbow. Even if I rearrange it or change its position on my baby’s play area, she always spots it straight away and will tummy crawl towards it. The only thing I don’t like about the colourful arch is that the cloth material can’t be removed therefore only allowing me to spot clean it and not completely wash it.

Dangling Toys
The rainbow arch displays 4 detachable toys – the elephant teether, crinkle panda, lion rattle, and the monkey cymbal clackers. The crinkle panda is easily my baby’s favourite. The crinkle panda is easy to grab because of its shape, makes a fun crinkle sound, and the back of the panda displays a contrasting black and white pattern. I love how these are detachable so I can actually replace the toys with something new if I wanted to. Also, I am quite anal about cleanliness so I’m happy I get to wash these toys regularly. The arch itself however, is covered with a cloth that cannot be removed - so this can only be spot cleaned. The arch can also be rearranged to be positioned to either sides of the play gym.

Piano
At around 3 months old was the peak of my baby’s kicking frenzy. She absolutely loved to kick at the keyboard. If I held her in a sitting position, she would kick away at the keyboard and this would entertain her for quite a long time (in baby standards). When she outgrew this stage, she would then reach for the keyboard with her hands.

I love that you can unscrew the piano and position it how you want it – whether you want it to face your baby’s feet or face upward. This means that this toy can grow with baby. When baby is bigger, the piano can face up and baby can sit in front of it and ‘play the piano’ like a big girl.

The piano has 2 volume options and come is 3 modes. The first mode is where it plays continuous music (“head shoulder knees and toes” was stuck in mummy’s head for quite a long time). The second option is more educational where it will tell you each key’s color/number/shape when you press the key. The third option is where you can actually play the piano. The keys of course light up which is always fun.

Mirror
What baby doesn’t love mirrors? This one of course is a fake mirror and will not break and hurt your baby. I love that it comes with a strap allowing you to secure the mirror while also allowing you to move it around as you need to. I often sit and support my baby so she can sit in front of the piano. The mirror allows me to watch as her face lights up or watch her face in concentration.

Play Mat
I love that the play mat is soft, detachable, and machine washable. The only thing I didn’t like about this is that it doesn’t have any grip. Since my baby is still tummy crawling, she gets stuck as she tries to crawl towards the keyboard.

Overall…

CONS
-          The play mat has no grip so a tummy crawling baby gets a little stuck.
-          The cloth material of the arch cannot be removed and therefore cannot be washed.

PROS
-          Plenty of features to entertain baby.
-          Educational.
-          Good quality.
-          Suitable from birth.
-          I can see this entertaining baby for a couple years.

What play gym does your baby use and why do you love it?

Also, I've just joined the Youtube community! Would greatly appreciate it if you guys leave some love and subscribe!

* Thank you to our dear friends Adrian and Sabrina for gifting us this play gym for my baby shower.*

  2. Your daughter is so cute! We had this for our boys, although the keyboard was black and white, instead of having the animals on it. They really enjoyed playing with it, and we gave it away when they had both gotten too grown up for it.

Hope that you are having a nice weekend :) It's a rainy day here - perfect weather for continuing to isolate at home!
