Australian Space Discovery Centre (Sesame Street's Mecha Builders Screening)

by - 2:12 PM

We recently received an invite to a special screening of Mecha Builders at the Australian Space Discovery Centre and I thought this was the perfect time to visit as we had never been to the discovery centre before.

Australian Space Discovery Centre

Location:
Lot Fourteen Ground Floor, McEwin Building, Corner Frome Road and North Terrace, Adelaide SA 5000

Open on:
Wednesdays to Sundays (open to the public for free)

The discovery centre was a lot smaller than I expected. It was very nicely built though - clean and modern (even the toilets). Watch my Instagram Reel to come along as we explored the space centre:

Just about everything there was interactive and if you really take time to read the information, there is plenty to learn! I would certainly recommend a visit for older kids (especially space fans). My toddler of course was equally happy to simply be there and tinker with everything in sight.

Sesame Street's Mecha Builders

Mecha Builders features Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby reimagined as robot heroes-in-training using their STEM superpowers to solve larger-than-life problems. The series is actually quite educational in a cute Sesame Street way of course. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The episodes teach children about properties of matter and light, and about machines such as pulleys and levers.

The episodes are only 12 mins each. What I liked about the episode that we watched was how at the end of the episode, the Mecha Builders had a quick recap and pointed out how they identified problems and came up with the solutions. Of course my 2-year-old was too young to understand this but older kids would benefit from it for sure. My toddler enjoyed laughing at the characters' antics though!

You can watch Mecha Builders on ABC Kids daily at 435pm or you can watch it on ABC iview.

Have you been to the Australian Space Discovery Centre before?

Always,

Jeanne
